Since it's premier in Woodbridge in December 2017, Life on the Deben has become a 'must see' film for everyone who loves the Deben, has sailed on its waters, walked its banks, or just enjoyed the unique tranquility of its environment.

Using the latest drone technology director/cinematographer Tim Curtis and commentator John McCarthy present a unique view of the river over the 25 miles from Debenham to the shingle bar at Bawdsey. Shot over two years and distilled from 100 hours of filming, the feature length screening delves into the history of the Deben from pre-Anglo Saxon times, through the middle ages, the war years, to an assessment of how today's pressures may shape the future of the river.

It celebrates too its creative influence on artists, writers, and musicians down the ages, from painters such as John Constable, writers such as Andrew Fitzgerald, to all those who live and work on the river today. Boat builders, landowners, sailors, boat yards, swimmers, historians, environmentalists, mill owners, and those who look after the river tell their stories.

"This is very much a community film," comments producer Malcolm Hodd, "inspired by people we met along the way, all of whom brought their own perspective to what the river has to offer". The film provides inspiration to all those who wish to preserve the river for future generations.

Some of the production team will be available for a Q&A at the end of this screening.

This screening is part of the Deben Macmillan Challenge and all profits are going to Macmillan Cancer Support in Suffolk.
