Dementia Friendly Film Screenings

On World Alzheimers Day The Riverside Theatre in Woodbridge are delighted to announce they will be holding monthly Dementia Friendly Film Screenings at their cinema, starting this coming Monday 24th September with the 1958 classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at 10.30am.

For these exclusive Dementia Friendly Screenings the lights will be left slightly up and the sound turned slightly down and they will only be open to those living with dementia and their accompanying friend, relative or carer, which means needing to talk, sing along or get up and move around is not an issue.

Many people whose lives have been touched by dementia, and while this can be a challenging illness, we felt there's no reason why people living with it couldn’t come out and enjoy themselves, laugh, sing and have a great time with a classic film they will know and hopefully love. We want to create a safe and happy environment for people with dementia and their companions at the cinema with these special screenings.

We also have lined up for the rest of the year the following Dementia Friendly Screenings

On The Town (1949) Monday 22nd October

Meet Me In St Louis (1944) Monday 26th November

White Christmas Monday 17th December

All screenings are at 10.30am priced at £6 per ticket per person, which includes a cup of tea or filter coffee and a biscuit.
