Book Now For The Dam Busters at 75: Live From the Royal Albert Hall

On 26 February 1943 the Air Ministry gave the go ahead to the Royal Air Force’s most daring operation of the Second World War, ‘Operation Chastise’ later known as the ‘Dam Busters Raid’.

On 17 May 2018 ‘The Dam Busters with Dan Snow’ will commemorate this iconic raid, 75 years to the day, with a special live broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas nationwide.

The show will reflect on the work of Sir Barnes Wallis, whose ‘bouncing bomb’ was carried by 19 Lancasters for the attack on the dams of Germany’s Ruhr valley. The event will also pay tribute to Wing Commander Guy Gibson and his comrades of the 617 Squadron.

The first half of the evening will see families of the crew members, including those of Guy Gibson, remember the raid’s legacy and will show never before seen images of the Dam Busters and unreleased memoirs from the film’s director, Michael Anderson.

An on-stage ‘bouncing bomb’ experiment will show how Sir Barnes Wallis realised his invention and this part of the broadcast will conclude with a rousing rendition of The Dam Busters March, played by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, before the film The Dam Busters (U) is shown.

Don’t miss out on this one off special live broadcast.
