Breathe - Stop Polio Now

Our film from Friday 17th November is BREATHE, which tells the true story of Robin Cavendish, who contracted polio at the age of 28 was confined to bed and was given just months to live.

We are delighted that members of the Woodbridge Rotary Club and Deben Rotary Club will be attending the screenings to raise awareness of polio and the remarkable work that is being done to eradicate the disease through their "Stop Polio Now" campaign.

The Rotary Clubs, with the help of the Woodbridge community, are proud to have played their own small part in reducing the number of Polio cases worldwide to just 14 cases in 2 countries as at 9th November 2017. This paralysing life-altering scourge is on the verge of becoming the second human disease ever to be eradicated.

Eradicating Polio is on the Rotary's long term programmes in conjunction with other world leading organisations such as the Gates Foundation. Their plan is to raise, worldwide, $150 million over the next three years. All money raised is matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
